This is a graph of the GDP per capita of all(?) nations. This graph doesn't actually correspond to what I think my knowledge question will be, but I was looking at the graph and I was thinking about what Mr. Bogel said in class about graph Inception (you know, that movie), and I was wondering about contradictory knowledge (aka knowledge that is not just contradictory because one side blatantly lied about something, but contradictory in the way that both sources of the knowledge fully believe that they are telling the truth).
What conclusions can contradictory knowledge yield? Is it contradictory because it is colored by emotion or language, or is it contradictory because facts truly have a dual nature?
*How is the interpretation of knowledge limited by the way it's presented?

Is the interpretation of two pieces of knowledge contradictory due to the knowers emotions, language, or perspective, or is it contradictory because "facts (in quotes because I don't really want to have that argument about whether or not we ever truly have facts or just opinions)" truly have a dual nature?

DeleteMy first KQ#2 was definitely too broad, so I tried to make this one a bit more specific and more directly related to the way the information in the graph was presented. Now I think this KQ may be too specific.

ReplyDeleteThe graph I chose illustrated the number of adults (15-49) who have HIV amongst different countries in the world. A knowledge question I was able to extract was To what extent can faith be employed as a way of knowing to influence one's morals and practices?
